Adult Volunteers (18+)

Why volunteer with us?

1st Chalfont St Giles Scout Group is run entirely by volunteers who help young people develop skills for life through fun, adventure and new experiences.

Our volunteers support weekly meetings, camps, activities, events and behind-the-scenes organisation that keep the Scout Group running. Whether you enjoy outdoor activities, helping young people grow in confidence or supporting the local community, there are many ways to get involved.

You can give as much or as little time as you are able to, and we will help find a role that suits your interests, skills and availability.

Ways to volunteer

There are many different volunteering opportunities within the Group, including:

  • Scout Leaders
  • Trustees
  • Fireworks Committee

What do volunteers get from Scouting?

Volunteering with Scouts is fun, rewarding and a fantastic way to meet new people while making a real difference to young people within the local community.

Scouts also offers flexible training and development opportunities that help volunteers build confidence and gain transferable skills including leadership, teamwork, communication, organisation and problem solving.

Many volunteers find the experience helps both personally and professionally, while also creating lifelong friendships and memorable experiences.

Training and support

All volunteers receive support and guidance, along with access to The Scout Association’s training programme. Training is flexible and designed to fit around work, family and other commitments.

Safety and safeguarding are an important part of Scouting, helping ensure all activities are safe, inclusive and enjoyable for everyone involved.
