Meet The Team
Our team at 1st CSG is run by adults who give their time voluntarily to help the Group provide the adventure of Scouting to the young people in our community. the team is split into three sections; Scout Group, Executive Committee and Fireworks Committee.
The Scout Group are Uniformed leaders who actively lead the sections and are supported by the Group Scout Leader.
The Group Executive Committee is chaired by the Group Chairperson and manages the business affairs of the Group. They are responsible for the maintenance of the property; raising funds, administration of Group finance, insurance, property and equipment. Members of the Group Executive Committee are the ‘Trustees’ of the Scout Group which is a charity.
The Fireworks Committee is chaired by the Fireworks Chairperson and manages the annual fireworks display in the village. The fireworks event is provided and fired by qualified specialist companies but there is still plenty to be done by the Scout & Guide supporters in planning and publicising the event, managing the catering and sale of tickets/novelties.
Scout Group
The Scout Group is led by a Group Scout Leader (GSL) and managed by a Group Executive Committee. The different Sections are run by uniformed Leaders. All are unpaid volunteers who have been checked to ensure they are suitable to work with young people and who have available the support and training they need from the Scout Association to ensure everyone involved enjoys Scouting in a safe manner.
Executive Committee
The Executive team plays a vital role in the running of the Scout Group and supporting the Group Scout Leader. It makes decisions and carries out administrative tasks (eg raising funds, scout hut maintenance, insurance, etc.) to ensure that the best quality of Scouting can be delivered to everyone.
The Committee consists of an elected Chairperson, Treasurer, Secretary, parent reps from each section, the Group Scout Leader and other adults, who are all volunteers.
Parents are welcome to attend committee meetings. Please contact the Chairperson for more details.
Fireworks Committee
One of Scouts and Girlguiding’s biggest fundraisers is the village Fireworks display. The profits from this event help us to keep the halls maintained/running, keep termly subscription costs down and equipment for activities. The Fireworks Committee holds 4 meetings a year as well as being at the event.
