Welcome to 1st Chalfont St Giles Scout Group. This page is for new and existing adult volunteers and brings together the key information, links and guidance you need to get started.
We are a volunteer-led Scout Group providing Scouting for over 140 young people aged 6 to 18 across five sections: Beavers, Cubs, Scouts, Explorers and Young Leaders.
You will never be expected to do everything on your own. New volunteers are supported by experienced leaders within their section, the wider Group leadership team and local District and County volunteers.
Volunteering is flexible. Some volunteers help every week, while others support occasionally at meetings, camps, events, fundraising activities or behind the scenes.
OSM is used locally to manage programmes, badges, events, attendance, payments and parent communications.
The Scouts Membership System is used for volunteer onboarding, DBS checks, references, learning records and adult appointments.
The official Scouts Quick Start Guide explains how to sign in, complete your details, provide references, access learning and progress through the joining journey.

First Response first aid is required for Section Team volunteers and other volunteers who regularly work directly with young people. This training must be renewed every three years.
Bucks Scouts provides local training courses, including First Response sessions and other volunteer learning opportunities.
There are usually two ways to complete First Response first aid training:
For the blended option, the online e-learning module must normally be completed at least one week before attending the practical session.

All volunteers should be familiar with the Safe Scouting cards, including the Yellow Card, Purple Card, Orange Card and Green Card.
The Group will cover reasonable uniform costs for adult volunteers, including a Scout polo shirt, long-sleeve uniform shirt and activity trousers.
Please keep receipts and submit expense claims to the Treasurer.
If you have any questions, please speak to your Section Team Leader or contact one of the Group Lead Volunteers.
